  • Julia Halipchuk, BASc, P.Eng

    Design Engineer

Julia is a design engineer with RJC's Vancouver office. She is a strong communicator, team player and tenacious employee who also happens to have cerebral palsy, a breakdown in the neural pathways that can affect speech and movement. In Julia's case, cerebral palsy affects the right side of her body; she doesn't have proper use of her hand and walks with a limp She has adapted how she works to fulfill her role, including being on construction sites. Hesitant at first, Julia thought she would spend most of her career in an office. She has since learned to overcome her challenges and is the lead design engineer on the prominent St. Andrew's Wesley restoration project. She now spends half her time on site.

Deciding on what career to pursue when you have a disability is difficult. Start by finding some aspect of life you find interesting, and you will find people and companies that will make a place for you in their workforce.

  • Mohammad Fakoor, PhD, CEA, P.Eng., CPHD

    Senior Building Performance Engineer

Nationally sought for his deep knowledge of building performance, specifically for designing high performance buildings aligned with contemporary energy standards, Mohammad is a leader in building energy modelling. Building Energy Modelling is a versatile, multipurpose tool that can aid in design-stage decision-making, to show code compliance, to achieve green building certification and to help inform policy and code development. Mohammad's leadership has furthered RJC's Building Energy Modelling practice across Canada.

Provinces across the country are adopting more contemporary energy codes and standards to advance the energy performance of buildings. British Columbia and the City of Toronto have adopted new stringent energy standards using a passive house philosophy, with the goal of "net-zero ready" buildings by 2030. We anticipate that energy modelling will become an inevitable part of the building design in the future.

  • Amy Rohof, BSc., P.Eng.

    Project Engineer

Amy is the Project Engineer for the structural design of the $500M BMO Centre Expansion, a visually stunning expansion of the convention centre that is a catalyst project for Calgary's Rivers District. As a structural engineer, the projects that always stand out for her are those where she is able to recognize how her works contributes back to the community and build a better city. Amy's passion for community, combined with her strong project management skills and aptitude for design, make her a valuable team member.

It's always so rewarding when you can show your kids something and say 'mom helped design that.'

  • Rehanna Devraj-Kizuk, BASc, CPHD

    Engineering Intern

Rehanna is a Certified Passive House Consultant. In heating dominated climates such as Canada, Passive House provides a rigorous standard and design approach to achieving significant energy savings while remaining financially viable. The Passive House Standard stands for 'quality, comfort and energy efficiency’ in building design and construction. Rehanna is passionate about developing infrastructure that creates and sustains livable communities in Canada, a commitment demonstrated by achieving Passive House Consultant Certification.

Passive House is a powerful methodology to achieve exceptional energy savings, intelligent design, and enhanced thermal comfort in buildings. I'm excited to contribute to the increased use and growth of this standard in Canada.

  • Dustin Worts, CET

    Construction Services Coordinator

Dustin works closely with contractors to offer RJC's construction engineering services, such as formwork and false-work, shoring and reshoring, load reviews, coring/opening reviews, planning/value engineering for project scheduling, structural assessment/upgrading for additional loads, on site Quality Assurance services, etc. He also manages a group of talented field representatives who work with owners, architects and contractors to review that what is constructed meets the intent of the engineering design. An active volunteer and vested in the industry, Dustin is a well-known and valued member of the construction industry.

The relationship between design and construction is imperative and fluid. I believe if we stay connected and work with the construction team, RJC will bring value to every phase of the project, this is critical in its overall success.
